Description
Vauxhall Carlton 3.0L GSI 24V 204 bhp
Here is my beloved awesome driving machine. A genuine dream car. My intention was to get her up and running again to her former glory but now too sick to work on it so I guess over to someone else that can put the love back into this beautiful machine.
She's not been driven for around 17 years. Work will need to be done on her to bring it up to scratch. An enthusiast like me would be the person to buy this car. It is a 1990 model having a digital dash speedometer to go with the 3L 24V, 204bhp engine. This car would be classed as a 'barn find' but has been kept garaged all it's life protected from 'collectors'! It has a five speed manual gearbox, limited slip diff and is rear wheel drive. There will be work to be done as I've said such as the usual bodywork paintwork, all fluids drained and replenished. Probably engine out and oil drained, engine oil seals renewed, sump filter cleaned with sump pan removed. Oil replenished. Oil used always was fully synthetic Esso Ultron oil but not sure if this is still available. There will be an equivalent.
When it last ran it drove perfectly. Reason for me not getting it up to scratch as I had intended to do is that I've spent most of my life working overseas and when I've been on leave I've always had another car to drive until I went back to my contract abroad so no need to drive it. The plan was to be at my stage now, retired and work on it but as I said earlier heart and lung issues now so better to let someone else look after her even though it will break my heart. She's done approximately 185,000 miles and was my daily when I worked in the UK before working more abroad. I had one accident in it only. Someone pulled out on a roundabout in front of me at low speed and I hit them after skidding. Chassis checked and car repaired by Vauxhall paid by third party and no Category issued. Car back on the road and full MOT. Accident occurred 24th January 2002. Proof of repair and subsequent MOT's can be seen in the photo's.
There's lots of Mercs, Beamers, Jags, Audi's etc around..but not many of these or the Lotus version. This car was rare when I bought it in 1993. Even more rare now!
Happy to sell for a sensible offer. Car will be sold as seen. Get in touch if you're interested and we can do a deal. This car is awesome and I'd love it in the hands of someone as crazy as me to bring it back to life. Whoever buys it will have to arrange it to be transported. Contact me for info.
