Description

Selling due to back and knee problems no longer allowing me to enjoy the cars superb manual gearbox. Its only carried out 1094 miles since all the work below has been done and needs a good home as it's a keeper. The Atlas Grey bodywork shows its age, and other than having it machine polished and detailed with ceramic coating, I haven't touched it. It was more important that it was mechanically sound. Purchased 02/08/2017, with 82219 miles used for a couple of thousand mile before I realised the engine was not quite right, with smell of burning oil after use.Decided to carry out complete engine rebuild using Hartech for the rebuild, which consisted of the following all documented with receipts. Mileage was 84189 at that time.Cylinder strengthening & basic cylinder head overhaul strip heads, IMS bearing large, de-coke heads and valves, re-lap valves to seats, skim head & reassemble with new valve stem seals. New OEM supplied parts fitted - pistons x 6, crank bearings, water pump, tandem pump, ignition coils, spark plugs, AOS, belt & rollers, low temp thermostat. The gearbox was also stripped and serviced by JPR Competition at Silverstone, and fitted with new clutch and new polyethene bush mounting.Existing exhaust and manifold headers were also in bad state of repair, so changed for Dansk Stainless steel Sports exhaust with catalysts and lambda sensors, Design Tek stainless steel exhaust headers. I then had exhaust and header black ceramic coated by Camcoat Performance coatings for better gas flow and reduced under body heat retention.Removing the engine and gearbox highlighted extensive corrosion the coolant system, brakes and suspension, so, as the car was stripped of engine and gearbox decided to replace everything. Whilst everything was off the car it was undersealed. Brakes were removed and sent to BCS. The aluminium pistons were replaced for stainless steel, new Brembo seals Pagid pads fitted & stainless-steel brake hoses. The car is fitted with PASM, and I had only intended on changing the Bilstein dampers and springs, however, the suspension components were so badly corroded I had to change the complete wishbones, track rods, control arms, shock mounting plates, front and rear. Water cooling for engine consists of rubber and aluminium pipe which gets very corroded and generally break when you remove them. The car is currently showing service light for oil change and requires 12 month MOT as it on a SORN. These will be carried out as part of the sale.
