Description

I am reluctantly selling my cherished Chrysler Neon LX. This car was garaged for 20 years by the first owner, only going out once a year for a service and MOT. I bought it 4 years ago as I couldn't miss this chance to own what was essentially a brand new Neon with only 1900 miles on the clock. Since then it's been covered most of the time and kept in perfect condition. I have been to Scotland in it, and it was an absolute joy to drive. I hardly use it now and need the space on my drive, but I went for a 100-mile run the other day, and it drives like a brand new car. The smell inside has to be experienced, a deep, rich leather smell that has accumulated over the many years. There is barely a mark on it anywhere, one tiny stone chip on the front of the bonnet leading edge, and that's all I could find. The tyres are very good. When I bought it, I insisted that the dealer replace the cambelt, water pump and tensioner as this has a 10 year life, even though it hadn't been used much. So that's good for another 90K miles, although I expect the buyer of this car to probably be a collector and thus not drive too far. There are no other Neons available now, I have the last two on the road, this one and a silver R/T which I am restoring. It is no exaggeration to say that this is must be the best Neon LX in the country, perhaps the world, unless someone else has one gathering dust in a museum somewhere. The car has had a few minor bits of work: New A/C compressor as the old one had seized and had not been used much for 20 years. that was done when I bought it, and blows ice cold in the summer, better than my new Insignia! New ignition switch, common fault, they fail to switch on, so a brand new part was fitted last month, very easy repair and now works perfectly. As mentioned new Cambelt, water pump and tensioner 4 years ago. The car has one fault, the remote control keyfobs do not lock or unlock the car. This will require a new RKE transponder that goes under the dash, if I was going to keep it I would get this done, but it's no big deal as the central locking works and you can just unlock the car with the key and lock it with the lock button on the door. I am looking for around 7K for this car which for what is effectively a chance to own and drive an as new and extremely rare car on the road. I am hoping the new owner will show it as much love as I have and keep her nice and as new into her old age.
