Description

Middlehurst Road Race & Classic present this beautifully restored 'Series 2' Lotus Elite 1.2 Climax finished in metallic Lagoon Blue with contrasting grey, leather trimmed interior. Chassis number EB-1431 was first registered new in the UK on 28th March 1961 and supplied to its first owner Mr. Bayliss from David Buxton of Derby. After owning the car for a year or so, Mr. Bayliss then part exchanged the car for a larger Austin Healey 3000 MK11 at Donald Healey's in Warwick. Following on from this it was believed to have been supplied by Chequered Flag in late 1962 to a Mr. Tavener of Southend, Essex. The continuation 'buff' logbook shows the following previous owners from 1969-1972 until it was then laid up in a barn in Northumberland until the early 1990's when it was purchased by a Mr. Ball and partially restored. Since then and more recently since 2011, it has been fully restored and is presented in beautiful condition, both inside & out. The local, previous owner Mr. Harris, would regularly take the car to classic cars shows such as the Oulton Park Gold Cup and won several awards, which was a credit to him. We are offering the car for sale on behalf of Mr. Harris' family. A large history file is present with the car which includes photographs of the restoration work and many invoices/receipts, as well as old logbooks including its older 'buff' logbook. A lovely, genuine, useable car, which is on the button, ready for the next owner to enjoy.
