Description
1997 Mazda Bongo with AFT (auto free top). 2.5 diesel automatic. 155280km/96487miles. MOT until February 2026. Electric roof, electric blinds, power steering, ABS, air con, central locking with 2 keys.
We purchased in 2019, and immediately had the van undersealed and fitted a low coolant alarm.
No conversion, leaving it open to others to do what they wish, though we added some high-level shelfing that doesn't compromise space. We also had young children when we first bought so we modified the ceiling hatch into a bifold hatch, making it easier to access compared to the original 'cat-flap'. Had mattresses and pillows made to fit, which are included in the purchase (see pics). For 'downstairs' sleeping, we purchased a U-shaped memory foam mattress topper from Comfortz Leisure (see pic) which has also served us well and is included in the purchase. Windscreen cover from Fuel Lagoon included (see pic).
2 rear bench seats fitted at the moment. When we camped, we removed the rearmost bench seat and fitted a storage unit in its place (I made it myself and designed it to the runners of the of the bench seat once the seat was removed). This gives the option of sliding the unit back and fore depending on preference. The unit (see pic) is also included in the purchase, if desired.
Rear wheel rim arches repaired last summer due to some signs of rust so thought it best to repair earlier rather than later. Some other areas of minor rust but nothing serious (see video). I've treated these minor areas every year, again to stay on top of the issue. Otherwise has been serviced every year.
Only issue is a tear in the roof tent (see pic). However, it has been like this for a couple of years and we have simply used duct tape to fix it and have had no issues with rain, despite being on a fair few camping trips.
Selling due to the fact that we don't use it enough for camping. Whilst it still proves very useful, we figured it has served its purpose for us when it comes to camping and it is time to pass on.
