Description

This 9-3 SE is a good example of a model becoming increasingly hard to find, especially, as seen here, with the ULEZ-compliant engine of the facelift cars. The car is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, as evidenced by a fully stamped service book and extensive service invoices. Since 2023, on the cosmetic side, it has had a new wooden fascia, leather gear stick gaiter and various badges replaced. The missing wheel centre cap badge on the N/S rear wheel has been replaced since the pictures were taken. Mechanically, in the same period, the car has had a new turbo and alternator, the roof mechanism has been reconditioned and the air-con re-gassed. The tyres are less than 8,000 miles and two years old. Very recently, I have had the direct ignition cassette replaced along with new spark plugs, so the engine is running very well. Most recent work has been carried out by an independent specialist. Body work is all solid and free of rust, and the paintwork is in good order apart from some minor blemishes. The hydraulic roof goes up and down as it should. The pictures show missing pixels on the climate control LCD; this has since been swapped with a new unit. There is a small tear on the driver's seat base where the two panels join which may be visible in the pictures, but the leather is otherwise in good order, without bad cracks etc. Other than mysteriously silent indicators and non-functioning electric mirror controls, I cannot think of anything that does not work on the car. The MOT is due in July, and the only advisories on the last one were some slightly corroded springs and some superficial corrosion on the bulkhead, Neither demand urgent attention, so I have left them for the time being. Hopefully this covers the car reasonably thoroughly, but please contact me if you have any questions. I have greatly enjoyed the car over my 15 months of ownership, and it has performed without fault on several trips to the Continent. Unfortunately, a lack of parking has forced a sale. The car arguably occupies something of a sweet-spot between the more heavily GM-derived 9-3 that followed in 2003 and the pre-2001 cars which fall foul of urban emission zones. With the roof down, it is an excellent car for the summer, and covers long distances with ease. The rear seats can take two adults comfortably, and they can also be folded down if required. Two keys and all the original dealer booklets remain with the car.
