1969 VW Type 2 Early Bay tin top. Savannah beige / White top half. Left hand drive. Non-walk through. This bus has been with my family since 2009, after I bought it from a young couple who had imported it from California via Kieft & Klop in 2006 but had a baby on the way and could not afford to keep it (the bus, not the baby). This is a solid bus and have videos to show recent renovation work (bare metal respray / all new window and door rubbers and some new chrome /re-undersealed). As MOT History will show, this was not a structural necessity but a primarily cosmetic upgrade ( Videos are available of this work and of engine running). Apart from general maintenance, I have had relatively little work carried out since purchase as it has been so reliable. Disc brakes were fitted to the front end in 2009, and I did have a new short engine (approx. 2016) which has done less than 10k miles since, Also had a new carburettor (2023). Little else has been altered and the inside was already home-converted from original microbus set-up on purchase with a mains hookup /circuit breaker / cupboards / sink / storage box /rear seat belt / rock n' roll bed / blue and white check curtains and rear bench seat covers. Garaged from Oct-April every year. New headliner and some door cards and carpets from Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers. A new battery plate has been welded in, as have two footwell patches, the lower rear corners, and the front edge behind bumper has been replaced. None of the traditional oil leaks present, so your driveway can relax. Only negative points are a small tear on the passenger seat base, and the ignition key is not an original. The speedo is erratic and the fuel gauge too. She also needs a couple of new door cards (sliding door and rear door). Has only done limited miles in recent years and reason for sale is that my family have now outgrown its sleeping capacity, and I will be sad to see her go.
