Description
Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 2.7L V6 - Quiet, Capable, and Properly Looked After
This is the 2.7-litre V6 version of the Grand Vitara XL-7 - not to be confused with the smaller engines or base models. It might be as long as a Range Rover, but it's much more manageable, with enough power to hit 0-60 in around 10 seconds. That big engine doesn't just give it some pull - it also means it runs incredibly smooth and quiet. So quiet, in fact, passengers often say they can't tell it's running. It genuinely feels a bit like driving a hybrid.
Don't let the size fool you - it's been very well looked after:
Chain-driven engine (no cambelt to worry about)
Oil changed 5,000 miles early since I've owned it
Only premium oil used - Shell or Castrol
Transmission oil recently replaced with high-quality fluid
Run on premium unleaded (1 in every 3 tanks)
Redex used every couple of months
No coolant loss and no oil usage
Starts and drives without any issues
Cruise control for stress-free motorway journeys
Tax is also lower than similar large 4x4s, making it a smarter choice to run than many would expect.
Couple of honest quirks to mention:
The radio can't pick up FM/AM, but it's Bluetooth enabled - stream music from your phone (Spotify, DAB radio apps, podcasts, etc.)
Central locking can occasionally be temperamental - nothing major, just worth knowing
If you want a proper 4x4 that's been cared for, runs beautifully, and offers something a bit different from the usual, this is a solid choice.
