Description

Low mileage 1999 Mazda MX-5 Mk II (NB) 1.6 in Red 12 Months MOT (27/3/2026) Great looking car, fabulous drive with lots of recent work done. New car forces reluctant sale, with less than 200 miles driven in last 18 months. Permanently garaged since bought in 2019. Adrian Flux agreed value 5000 for insurance purposes. The normal rust areas that blight MX-5s have been addressed by Dunsdale Coachworks (Selkirk) who cut out and replaced rusted sections on sills and box sections behind drain holes, and fitted new front wings prior to a full respray (excluding bumpers - 2020). New clutch master and slave cylinders (2019), track rod ends and steering rack bellows. Oil and filter changed early in ownership as no previous history provided. Replaced hood latches (2019) on frame, then fitted brand new mohair hood with heated glass window and new tensioners (Borders Hoods, 2020) to complement new paintwork. Under the bonnet, new timing belt, tensioners, rollers, belts (steering/alternator) and cam o-rings at c.55K miles. When front end was stripped, it made sense to replace water pump and radiator at the same time(2021). New spark plugs, fuel filter at same time. Oil and filter changed at that time. Panasonic single DIN DAB radio with Bluetooth (incl hands free kit) fitted maintains age-appropriate appearance with modern toys. TR Lane roll bar fitted for safety (Sep 2021), and straight-through exhaust section replaced with standard centre box (straight through pipe still available, should you wish to refit it - no discernible difference in performance but is louder!) Rolling restoration started in autumn of 2022 where underbody and suspension was inspected, stripped of underseal, primed painted and refitted with new parts where needed - only required bushes, shock gaskets, and rubbers, exhaust heat shield. Got about 1/3 of the way along so far - rear end shiny! New catalytic converter (2024), and front chassis leg welding (2025) complete the activity to date. In an ideal world (without the new car...), next plans were originally to complete the underbody refurb as above, and eventually respray the bumpers which have the light crazing common to these plastic parts. All invoices for work done since I took ownership (2019) available
