I bought this car in May 2020 from Auto Classics in Northampton, with 53860 miles on the clock and eight service stamps @ 9K 15K 20K 26K 28K 32K 37K and 47K. It had two previous owners, plus the supplying dealer, Howarth of Staffordshire. The first owner/keeper had the car until January 2019, when it was bought by the owner of Auto Classics of Northampton for his father-in-law. Since owning it, I've had three services @ 54K 60K and 66K and had various running repairs/replacements carried out, including a new radiator and fan cover frame, windscreen scuttle, valve cover gasket, gearbox service, and new battery. Last year, there was slight misting from the nearside rear differential seal, so I had them both replaced. These E38's are astonishingly well-made cars. Whilst this example is not in "Concourse" condition, it's certainly far better than average. Everything works, including the air conditioning, park distance control, and electric seats, although after 26 years, the mileage pixels and the radio/satnav occasionally refuse to come out and play. (There are android replacements available, but I've kept it original.) The original BMW phone, which I've never used, has a small crack on the hinge. There is even a television in there somewhere, but don't ask me how THAT works! All items are present in the boot-lid toolbox, and there is a virtually unused full-size spare. The interior is beautifully appointed, with no rattles or squeaks and the leather is in remarkable condition for its age. There is also a full set of genuine BMW over-carpets (unused) and a full-size heavy-duty car cover. Having covered less than 3,000 miles a year, the engine runs faultlessly, and the gearbox is simply superb. Both give perfectly adequate performance with a smooth ride.
