Renault Clio 1.6 TCe Renaultsport Nav EDC: A Hot Hatch with French Flair
The Renault Clio 1.6 TCe Renaultsport Nav EDC is a compact performance hatchback that brings serious driving dynamics to the supermini segment. Developed by Renaultsport — Renault’s motorsport division — this Clio delivers aggressive styling, sharp handling, and turbocharged punch, all wrapped in a practical, everyday package. It’s a car aimed squarely at enthusiasts who want fun without sacrificing daily usability.
Engine & Performance
At its heart is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 200 PS (197 bhp) and paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (EDC) with paddle shifters. This setup allows for rapid gear changes and strong acceleration, propelling the Clio RS from 0–62 mph in around 6.6 seconds.
The EDC transmission includes Race, Sport, and Normal driving modes, which tweak throttle response, shift timings, and steering feel. In Sport or Race mode, the Clio comes alive — with firmer suspension, sharper response, and a more engaging exhaust note.
Handling & Driving Dynamics
Renaultsport has fine-tuned the chassis for agility and grip, making this Clio incredibly fun to drive on twisty roads. The RS comes with stiffer suspension, a quicker steering rack, and wider tracks than the standard Clio, offering a planted feel and minimal body roll.
Optional Cup chassis models add even firmer suspension, red brake calipers, and a limited-slip differential for hardcore driving enthusiasts.
Design & Interior
The Clio RS features sporty styling cues that set it apart from the regular model:
17- or 18-inch alloy wheels
Rear diffuser and central twin exhaust
RS-specific bumpers, side skirts, and spoiler
LED daytime running lights shaped like a "chequered flag"
Inside, the cabin includes:
RS-branded sports seats
Aluminium pedals
Red stitching and detailing
A 7-inch R-Link touchscreen with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity
Optional RS Monitor for real-time performance data
Practicality & Economy
