Description

Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor 2002. Automatic. Midnight blue. Mileage is very low for a sports car of this age. An old cliche but the car has had two lady owners - I'm the second. I have owned it for 15 years and loved driving it. The car needs TLC. It's a rewarding project for someone with the skills to restore it to its former glory, or to be used as a cost-effective source for repairs and spare parts. It has been serviced by Mercedes and independent specialists over the years, however living by the coast has caused corrosion which means the car isn't currently driveable unless fixed. My local garage gave me a rough idea of what needs fixing, but there may be more things that need attention. These are the notes I made: - Suspected fault at near side rear hub. Fault comes and goes. - Drive shafts corroded. Expanded / swollen ABS sensor due to rust. - There may be something moving internally. Need to take suspension apart to investigate. Might not like to come apart due to corrosion. It's a shame because the rest of the car's alright. The bodywork has areas of rust that need attention. It's a convertible - as far as I know the roof mechanism is working, I put it down last summer. The mechanism can be a bit sticky, so this may need some TLC. One new, top quality Michelin tyre fitted to a back wheel just before the car needed fixing. Original engine. Mercedes CD player. I have one working key, the other has stopped working. V5 is in my name and my address. Vehicle is currently registered off road (SORN) with the DVLA. The car has been parked by my garage for a couple of weeks since I got it back from the mechanic, so the battery will need charging before the engine starts. The car will need to be trailered away. Sad to sell, I will miss the heated seats and gorgeous solid feel of this wonderful old classic, but the car now needs to go to someone who'd like a rewarding project or can use the parts. The car is located in Brighton.
