My beloved MX5. Please read!
Unfortunately I must reluctantly sell it because I really need a bigger car. I planned to keep until it no longer worked, but a 2 seater roaster wasn't built for a family.
I've owned this little dream of a car for 5 years, and I had the previous version of the MX5 before I upgraded to this one. It's been my daily runner during that whole time. It's the only car I've owned since then. I got it at 33k miles in 2020 and have only done 19k miles during that time. That's an average of 3800 miles per year.
MOT expires on 29/06/2025, but it will get a fresh MOT and service done if it isn't sold before then as I use it as my daily car, so milage will very slightly increase from 52,347k
During that time it's had:
- New battery (I have a receipt somewhere)
- 4 new tyres (2021)
- Break caliper (2022)
- Front break disc x2 (2022)
- Front break pads (2022)
- Link stabiliser x2 (2022)
- ABS sensor (2022)
- Anti-roll bar ball joint nearside and offside completely fixed (43k miles)
The GOOD Parts:
- Very fluid and responsive when driving. The gear shift is a thing of beauty.
- Effortless around bends with exceptional handling
- Clean and comfortable inside
- Parked in an underground carpark since 2022
- I put in a USBC cable to connect the speakers to an iPhone
- Very good sound quality inside
- Convertible roof comes up and down perfectly
- I wash it and hoover it regularly
- Very cheap on fuel
- Very cheap insurance (I pay about 220 a year with 16 years no claims)
- Very cheap tax (I pay 23 a month)
- Very cheap/easy repairs and parts
- No rust on rear sills, which MX5s are known for
I want to be absolutely transparent, so here are The BAD parts:
- Someone reversed into me and drove off, so it has a couple of small dents on the front bumper (pictured). No damage done besides cosmetic.
- Rear left side has some white scrapes or the wheel arches
- General small dents, barely noticeable
- It'll get called a hairdressers car
- You can't fit golf clubs in the boot
- Noisy cabin, you'll hear all the wind and rain
- No aircon, it gets hot during the summer if you don't have the top down
- The wiper fluid doesn't seem to spray out on the right wiper, I'll get that checked during the MOT.
