Description
Lotus Super 7 GT mk4. 1.6 Twin Cam
Every incarnation of the Seven saw improvements to the technical specifications, including brakes, steering and power. By 1970, Lotus were becoming increasingly plush and bowed out their final incarnation of the Seven. The series 4 is recognised by its fibreglass body with a square rear design, stronger and stiffer chassis, roll bar and 1.6-litre twin cam engine with twin 40 twin choke Webber carburettors exhilarating driving experience as the original Sevens, it also had more creature comforts, such as accommodation for luggage, a hood and side screens with Perspex windows.
This fully restored 1972 Lotus Super Seven GT is in superb condition all round I've owned her for 4.5 years and not been used as often as it should.
Having seen an extensive rebuild in the mid-1980s, including new chassis and tuning mods, high lift cam, reinforced bottom end, tubular stainless manifold and exhaust ( correct to Lotus original configuration) followed by a credible hill-climb competition history, the engine was rebuilt again along with another new chassis in the mid-2010s. It is MOT and road tax exempt, and sold with a folder of invoices detailing historic maintenance and servicing. Adjustable Spax coil overs. Revtrimmed interior. 4 point harness for driver, certified roll cage, fire extinguisher and battery cut off in boot.
Most recently all the oils have been replaced ( Engine, gearbox and axle by myself)
Nanking SVX semi race tyres fitted all round.
Instant acceleration, great induction roar and reliable modified twin cam engine.
Useable on the road or track not too crashy but handles like it's on rails.
Very rare in this condition. Great fun to drive and a great future investment as one of the last genuine Lotus 7s before Caterham started their production.
Also being advertised through Trade Classics classified. Videos 100s of higher resolution photos and all information relating to history drive etc, very comprehensive if you a genuinely interested. Viewing recommend to all genuinely interested in this historic car. This is a private sale of my car. Thanks Harvey.
