Description
Volvo XC90 with the incredible 4.4 litre Yamaha V8.
Overall the car is in very good condition for its age, with pretty much every optional extra you could throw at a Volvo that year and the engine has always performed beautifully in the time we've had it. We've driven it all over Europe and it's also serviced as my daily commuter, without missing a beat.
The car does have some minor age-related chips and scratches, but nothing that couldn't be easily addressed.
Frustratingly, some of its features aren't working properly at the moment. These may be simple fixes, but possibly beyond my ability to resolve. For example, the BLIS system has a fault. It still works as it should on the motorway, but shows a message on the dash saying its function is reduced. I have a feeling this is because condensation has gotten behind the lens, located on the underside of the wing mirrors, and seemingly left it with what looks like fine limescale on the inside. I'm not sure how to get in there to clean it though.
The SOS system and 'On Call' feature have also been deactivated, but this is due to the addition of the Sony Bluetooth system.
Also one of the rear DVD screens only works intermittently. I think it's a loose connection in the centre console where the disk drive is, as pulling it out and putting it in again, often cures it for a while.
It has a tow bar and has proved more than capable at pulling trailers and caravans.
It's not been serviced since the start of last year, but up until then it had a pretty much full service history according to its book. It's MOT is until January 2026. This car is also (surprisingly) ULEZ compliant.
All in all, this is a great car with only minor issues and is a very well-appointed example of the exceedingly rare XC90 V8.
Note:
Just before taking the car off the road last month, I used it to take a group of students on a school trip to Belgium. Frustratingly, when we got back, the ABS light had come on. I've had the code checked and it's the rear right tone ring.
This simply requires the hub being replaced, as it's integral. This is a fairly easy job to do, as I actually replaced the left side one myself last year. I bought one for the right side too at the time, but never fitted it. If I can dig it out, I'll try and fit it, if I get time.
I have quite a few other spare bits too, including discs and brake sensors, so will try to find them all and let them go with the car.
