Description

Here is the reluctant sale of my ex-military Landrover, 'Lydia'. The reason for sale is that I am now unable to dedicate as much time driving and working on her and I need the space. I have owned her for ten years and it's been worth every minute. Here's what she boasts:- Stage 2.1 cylinder head (LPG ready), polished and de-burred and valve guides sleeved in solid brass. Brand new carb (correct for military variant), new leaf springs all round just last year, new starter and alternator. Battery seems okay, but at nine years of age is probably on borrowed time. Electronic ignition which does away with temperamental points. For the right price I can include an awning (2.5x2.5m) which has been tested and used once. This also has four sides and a ground sheet (not used at all) with room for at least four adults. The tyres are excellent and the vehicle has a long MOT. I have every single receipt since 2015 proving purchases and fitting. There are more which came with the vehicle when I bought her. Brilliant in the snow, no slipping, spinning or other dramas, just stuck drivers staring. Military spec includes twin fuel tanks, convoy lighting and heavy guage chassis (series II). She was exhibited at a military hardware exhibition in 1984 and twice at the NEC on the Ex military stand. Negatives. Not many. The driver's side fuel tank has started to become porous but this is inexpensive and fairly easy for a competent diyer. The exhaust system has corroded at the rear but is not 'blowing'. It would benefit greatly with a stainless steel replacement. Would give an enthusiast plenty to brag about (I know I have!) No dreamers or tyre-kickers, this is a serious vehicle which has no peers. Only serious offers are therefore invited.
