Description

1988 Porsche 944 Turbo SE - Circa £50,000 spent since 2017, including £19,841 at Porsche Hatfield in 2021 - Believed to be one of just 70 UK-supplied Turbo SE models - Possibly unique specification: Guards Red with Beige Porsche script interior and no sunroof - Category C recorded in 1998 (low market value at the time), fully restored since Produced between 1982 and 1991, the Porsche 944 shared its platform with the 924 and was originally intended to continue into the 1990s. However, plans for a 944 S3 were absorbed into what became the 968. In 1988, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo S, featuring an upgraded 250bhp engine with 258 lb⋅ft of torque at 4,000rpm. This was achieved with a larger KKK K26-8 turbocharger and revised engine mapping, enabling peak boost up to 5,800rpm and a top speed of 162mph. Later versions of the 944, including the Turbo and S variants, are the most desirable thanks to upgraded interiors, suspension, engines, brakes, and the addition of a limited-slip differential. This particular example is a rare UK-supplied 944 Turbo SE, reportedly one of only 70, and possibly the only one in its specification: finished in Guards Red with a Beige Porsche script interior and no sunroof. Factory-fitted with the M030 sports suspension, M220 limited-slip differential, and upgraded brakes, this SE model was designed for serious driving enthusiasts and offers a sharper and more engaging driving experience than the standard Turbo. In recent years, this car has benefited from an extraordinary level of investment, with around £50,000 spent since 2017. Notably, £19,841 was spent at Porsche Hatfield in July 2021. The work included a brand-new steering rack, brakes, exhaust muffler, and numerous additional Porsche parts — covering ten pages of invoices and clearly representing a comprehensive mechanical overhaul. The engine was professionally rebuilt in 2017 .The rebuild totalled £11,600, and fewer than 10,000 miles have been covered since. Previous owner, Managing Director of a respected bodyshop, commissioned his team to strip and repaint the car to an extremely high standard, with the intention of long-term ownership. The respray alone is said to have cost approximately £15,000. As a result, the car now presents in excellent condition throughout. The exterior finish is superb, and the interior — likely original — remains in very good condition, with only minor wear to the driver's seat bolster. Previously recorded as a Category C in 1998 (when values were considerably lower), a high-quality repair had already been carried out to the rear-left corner, and this was further inspected and corrected during the recent restoration to ensure structural integrity and alignment. With virtually every mechanical and cosmetic element attended to in recent years, this 944 Turbo SE is a truly sorted example ready to be driven and enjoyed. It comes complete with a V5C registration document, a current MOT certificate, and a comprehensive history folder. OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK. FULLY UNDERCOVER SHOWROOM AND CHOICE OF 70+ CARS
