Description

Behold my gorgeous 68 plate Vauxhall Insignia, "the Coal Duchess". This is a big, proper man's car. The seats are the only ones in any vehicle in the world that are certified and approved by the American National Back Health Society. It is a vast, sophisticated, comfortable mile cruncher and you'd be hard-pressed to find something better for motorway cruising or commuting. Around town it's comfortable, relaxed but don't be fooled by the 1.6L diesel. She really pulls. Considering the sheer size of the machine, shes fast - I had a black box on it and with a little bit of a heavier right foot I could hardly get her out of second before I'd hit 30. The engine is dead quiet when driving economically and takes on a nice throaty purr when driving more spiritedly. The driver-oriented console & infotainment system makes the cockpit feel like a fighter jet, especially at night with the dimmable LED accents. To me this car has just the right blend of class and purpose, and she's been an absolute dream to own and drive. Regretfully selling as I've moved to Bali, so it will be my dad who will be dealing with on the phone and for a test drive. He is a busy man with mouths to feed so please respect his time and don't take the mick. I highly recommend a test drive to experience the car for yourself as my online ramblings paint a very limited picture (the photos also don't do it much justice (mum took them, sorry)). Bad bits: I was in a rush and still new to driving a car after having ridden a motorcycle for a year, and slightly dented the passenger-side door on a stupid low-down concrete bellend bollard. No-one has noticed this, not even my dad whom I was driving to and from the train station and he is very attentive. You really cant tell unless someone tells you to look specifically for it, but alas this has been reflected in the price. Insurance values this car at 5,375. On the topic of insurance this is the biggest, most head-turning, road-present car one can have with such a low insurance group (14E - my insurance was only 987.98 annual for a 20yo first-time driver with no car NCB (moto NCB doesn't count towards car insurance )). Bose sound system sounds miles better than my dad's Mercedes by his own admission. You will not find something with more road presence anywhere near this price point. It's got a huge boot - bigger than most SUVs, and (not that you'd ever need to) folding the rear seats down reveals a $3k/mo New York apartment. Ample room for dogging.
