Description

Our much beloved 2008 GTi, 6 speed DSG auto. First the good news: the engine is sweet as a biscuit, and the gearbox performs beautifully. Last weekend we drove over 300 miles without incident. During nearly 6 years (70K miles) with us, the DSG has been serviced twice and the engine serviced regularly - synthetic oil, plus filter. We have absolutely loads of receipts, but I have mislaid the service book, which is somewhere in our office/storeroom. VW have sent me a brief summary of what was done before 80,000. When we bought it at 85,000 I'm fairly sure the car had a full VW service history and 3 previous owners. MOT and tax run out in early August. There's a high quality Alpine DAB radio (which I will remove for low offers), rear proximity sensors and a boot liner. There's a tracker on but I haven't a clue whether it's still active. Two new Uniroyal front tyres were fitted last year. The rear ones are almost new. The electric windows, seat heaters, cruise control, air con - they all work. Seats are black leather and very comfortable. The car is extremely reliable, has never let us down and always starts easily. We live out in the sticks so it's vital to have reliability, so I have carefully looked after what makes it go. Now the bad news: the bodywork is very tatty, including a dent from when I had an argument with a Sainsbury trolley park (see photos). There's a ticking sound, associated with revs, when setting off. (short video available) There's also an emissions error code showing on the dashboard - my garage tells me it's an EVAP code. Oh yes, one of the brake light bulbs has gone. I might listen to sensible offers.
