Description
Purchased from a lovely gentleman in South Wales this fantastic 240 is well prepared for the next few years of use.
The beautiful Wedgewood Blue presents very well and although not perfect will continue to look good well into the next decade.
Benefiting from an older restoration I have been rectifying those minor blemishes that always appear at the seams of the boot and bonnet. The chassis and underside were one of the principle reasons I purchased this Mk2 seven months ago being virtually rust free with any historical work clearly undertaken to the highest standard.
Purchased as a 'long termer' I have spent in excess of 11,404.16 (invoices to show) which I will never recover in this sale price, but am pleased to pass on these improvements, upgrades and term maintenance onto the next owner. These costs broadly include:
Clutch replacement (slave cylinder and release bearing.
Full service including plugs, oil and air filters.
Cam cover gasket and manifold inlet gaskets.
Power Assisted Steering installation.
Electronic ignition distributor kit (including coil and HT leads).
New alternator belt.
new engine mountings.
New aluminium Radiator and associated mountings.
Replaced water and servo hose.
New Battery.
Replaced brake calipers, discs and pads all-round.
If you are familiar with the Jaguar Mk2 you will appreciate one of the challenges of driven regularly is the lack of power steering. Completed by a well regarded Jaguar specialist, the PAS installed creates a fantastically drivable car without loosing that 'special' Jaguar drive enjoyed by so many enthusiasts across the country. Coupled with a new clutch, which is an 'engine out' job, with all new Fossway calipers and discs and pads this launches the 240 into its next ownership with the satisfaction that I have more than done my bit to help preserve this Jaguar for decades to come.
The interior has been largely untouched by me except for the removal of a separately mounted new radio which had been incorrectly installed and was draining the battery when not in use. The new carpets and leather seat coverings installed by the last owner still look resplendent in a cockpit that doesn't look too manufactured and polished.
Only being sold along with an MG Midget to make room for another 1953 Jaguar which has long been on my wish list.
Please feel free to telephone or email me with any questions.
