Description
For sale is my beloved MK1 Focus in Ink Blue.
Superb 1.6 Sigma engine and a fully independent suspension.
Its showing signs of age and has a list of faults I have shown below.
With the modifications, I wanted to keep this car fairly standard but enjoyable.
Modifications:
- MK1 ST170 full leather recaro seats
- Pioneer Double DIN stereo
Short shifter and racing mount (gearbox to chassis) - This has made the car really fun to drive. The short shifter makes the gear changes nice and quick and the mount removes inertia making the gearshift feel seamless - however the stiffer mount causes noticeable vibration throughout the cab when idling and pulling away
- Uprated rear antiroll bar, rear bushes and front antiroll bar bushes - changing these components has tightened up the car even more around corners without sacrificing the ride comfort, last year I fitted premium Bridgestone Turanza tires which complement the suspension. This has given the car go kart like handling around bends.
Faults - there are a few faults/overdue items on this car which will need addressing
Overdue a timing belt change
Slight surface rust to wheel arches and rear suspension
Dash speedo not working - originally engine light came on and the speedo would intermittently sweep back and forth, I have since changed both the Vehicle speed sensor (gearbox) and the dash instrument cluster. It has got rid of the EML fault but the speedo still doesn't work. It will still pass an MOT. I will supply the original speedo (130k) and the second speedo fitted (165k)
Clunk sound/slight jolt feeling when initially turning steering wheel - it will require a steering rack as the original is fitted which had a flaw from factory of the assembly being over torqued, resulting in the first tooth in the rack and pinion snagging.
Car air blower direction not working (new cable assembly required)
Aircon not working - had the condenser/rad assembly changed, worked for a few days then the compressor packed in (both front power windows work though)
Horn sound is weak - I've replaced the unit but its still not very impactful.
Nearside rear tyre worn/cracked and perished - serviceable but definitely replace before next MOT.
With exception to the Near rear tyre, the car has had all its advisories repaired over the last two years - oil leak has been done (it was seeping from Camshaft position sensor which was changed last month)
Happy to provide more information.
