Description
I purchased the Polo as a project. I had one when they were new so wanted to get this excellent example show standard.
When I bought the car, the dealer had changed the timing belt, water pump, discs and pads all round, 2 new rear callipers, new wiper blades, new number plates, new locking wheel bolts, new auxiliary belt and a full service including genuine plugs, oil and filter, cabin filter and air filter.
I then went around the car and replaced anything damaged or missing. This was all genuine VW and comprised of a new aerial, new rear wiper arm, front wiper arm covers, battery clamp, fuel cap strap, full set of genuine mats and a couple of random trim pieces to ensure nothing was missing from the car.
I then refreshed the rear hatch struts due to being weak, new fuel filter and a set of new lower grilles for the bumper.
I replaced all suspension including bearings, mounts, dust seals and bump stops and the shocks themselves with Bilstein B4 OEM dampers. The only modification is a set of new H&R springs which made the ride look as it should.
I replaced lower arms, front and rear bushes, drop links, track rods, 2 new genuine Cv boots, front wheel bearings, lower engine mount. All suspension components were Mayle OEM.
I then powder coated the discs to stop them rusting, flushed the brake fluid, repainted the callipers and fitted some stainless steel bleed nipples.
There was an engine light on the car which was a thermostat problem and another showing a fuel pump relay issue. I replaced the relay for new and fitted a new coolant temp sensor and thermostat to solve the problem along with a genuine VW auxiliary belt tensioner due to a slight noise on the original and new coolant.
I run a detailing business as a hobby so the car had a 2 stage polish and my dent guy removed and dents from the bodywork. The wheels then went off for a refurb in original silver, new continental sport contact 6 tyres were fitted and a new set of genuine centre caps a then ceramic coated in Gtechniq wheel armour. The plastics are also ceramic coated. The car has factory fitted heated seats and headlight washers and a 6 disc cd changer under the passenger seat all of which work.
I see a lot of cars and this one really looks like a 3 year old car. It drives perfect, brakes good, gearbox tight, clutch light and precise and the engine runs like a sewing machine. I honestly don't think there will be a better version of the car available.
