First registered with Coventry Transport department, moving to a farm in 1988. Laid up until 2017 and new owner. Chassis thoroughly inspected (photo recorded), finding litres of waxoyl had prevented rust. Small patch on rear cross member resulted in the owner opting to weld in 1/4 chassis. Chassis stripped, painted and rewaxoyled internally and annually topped up. Rear step on detachable tow bar fitted (no electrics), new old stock folding steps installed. Bulkhead also found to contain litres of preventative wax oyl. Footwells solid. Front radiator panel also solid, removed, painted and wax oyled. Full engine overhaul to include overbored to 10thou, new stainless steel pistons, new crankshaft and all new rings, unleaded petrol head, synthetic head gasket, with washers added to cylinder head bolts. All new valves, valve guides, springs and hardened valve seats to take unleaded octane fuel. Block and head skimmed and painted, with new Britpart water pump and all new hoses. Approx 3000 miles since rebuild, including (inspected filters) 2 oil changes and new alternator. Gearboxes professionally rebuilt by Simmonites in February 2022. New borg beck clutch, new clutch fork, new clutch bearing, delphi slave and LoF master cylinder (soft pedal operation!). Australian imported lower dashboard, professionally welded, galvanised, refoamed and upper and lower dash professionally recovered in UV PVC. Steering wheel leather professional stitched in. New clayton heater motor installed, with Australian imported original "snail" box, with new heater matrix installed in original heater box, with all new refurbished heater controls to block. 4 x new drums, new shoes, 4 x brake cylinder, all new brake lines and LoF master cylinder. New handbrake drum and shoes. Weber carb installed 2022, original Zenith boxed for future rebuild. New complete exhaust, new prop shaft front and back. Recent modern dashboard voltage stabiliser, new temp sender and all new temp wiring with summer 2025 radiator flush. New front headlamps to take modern halogen bulbs. New Exmoor trim WSW canvass (retreated in 2023 and 2024),with matching winter fume curtain on all new galvanised bars. Original complete stripped for paint truck cab, glass bars and original 1979 canvass included plus painted galvanised door tops included for asking price. A mechanically and structurally solid unleaded petrol Series 3 Land Rover, maintaining original aluminium patina. Mot free and Road Trax free.
