Description
Austin Mini 850cc MK2
1972, Tax exempt, MOT exempt and ULEZ compliant.
Featuring the Magic Wand manual 4 speed gearbox (sometimes called a pudding stick/stirrer)
I acquired the car in 2005, absolute joy to run around in, especially around the city. 'Blackbird' is something the previous owner named her and I kept it on there.as it is unique, it's not a special edition or anything like that so I'll save you the googling now.
I used it daily until 2007 when it was dry stored for 15 years. In 2022 i had work done to revive and restore her and get her running again, had it on the road for a year in 2023.
I've had the engine fully serviced with all new plugs, points, leads, battery, fuel lines, lead additive filter, rad hoses, brake lines, brake pads, drive shaft seals, new alternator, belts, oil and filters.
All work carried out at Mac's Minis (Newcastle) for the last 20 years with a little help from Green & White (Houghton-Le-Spring) along the way.
She starts reliably, runs and drives well for its age although the pudding stick does take some getting used to. Slow and steady but a head turner for sure, potentially great promotional vehicle for a local business too.
As with any vehicle of this age it still needs some work throughout, she is a 50+ year old survivor who needs a lot of restoration and TLC; front suspension cones, floor repair drivers footwell, sills, generally age related bodywork repairs, brakes need bleed and the odometer no longer working. Tyres are perishing but included in the sale are 2 spare sets of wheels , 5 x standard 10" steel wheels and 5 x Dunlop wheels (10"x5"), wheels fitted are Wellers (10"x6") all of which change the look of the vehicle dramatically.
I'm really going to miss this one but I don't have the time or space anymore so it's now time for someone else to enjoy her as much as I have.
Get in touch and I can give you any more information you need and discuss an offer or a viewing. As always, tyre kickers need not apply. Serious offers only please. Thank you.
