Description

Launched amid the height of rally fever, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV became an instant success, with 6,000 units sold in the first three days. The 1996 WRC season saw Mitsubishi clinch its first World Rally Championship drivers' title, thanks to the blistering pace of Tommi Mäkinen. Building on that success, Mitsubishi quickly released the Lancer Evolution VI, and later in 1999, introduced the Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Mäkinen Edition (TME) to celebrate Mäkinen's four consecutive WRC drivers’ titles from 1996 to 1999. While the standard Evolution VI was already a technological marvel, the TME brought additional enhancements. These included a more responsive titanium turbocharger, upgraded suspension, quicker steering, a new exhaust, a revised ECU, reinforced transfer case internals, and a redesigned front bumper for improved cooling. It also sported 17" Enkei WRC alloy wheels. Inside, the TME featured Recaro seats with embossed logos, a MOMO steering wheel, and red stitching for a sporty, premium feel. The performance was staggering, with a 0-60mph time of just 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 150mph, while power was estimated to exceed 300bhp—well beyond the official 276bhp limit. This particular example is the RS variant of the TME, designed for even greater performance on tarmac. With a more aggressive body kit, 10mm-lowered suspension, a faster-spooling titanium turbocharger, and a helical front LSD, this car delivers exceptional handling. Finished in Scotia White, it features the original Recaro interior, which remains in excellent condition. A rare and lightweight variant, only 200 RS models were made, with none of the usual comforts like traction control, ABS, airbags, or electric windows. Exclusively available in Japan, these cars were typically imported to markets like the UK. This example has been owned by its current owner since 2015, who imported it to the UK. Stored in a temperature-controlled garage, it has seen minimal use and has been diligently serviced. It recently received a major service, including belt replacements, fluid changes, and new spark plugs, along with a clean MOT giving no advisories as usual. The car has just 2 owners on the V5C with the original being the importing company. Now that this car is 25 years old, it can be imported to the USA making this a fantastic collectors car given its rarity and how original this car is. Most cars have the seats replaced with bucket seats, however this car features the original seats.
