Description
Time to part ways with my beloved Mk6 Golf GTI, which I've owned since September 2021. It's covered 87,000 miles, comes with loads of paperwork, and has brought me plenty of joy.
Mechanically it's in good condition, with around 2,500 recently spent on important work, including:
- Timing chain replacement
- Water pump
- Alternator & belt
Performance-wise, it's had some tasteful upgrades to give it a bit more character without going overboard:
- Stage 1 remap by Momentum Tuning, making around 250-255bhp (dyno printout shows power at the wheels)
- Ramair induction kit
- GFB DV+ diverter valve upgrade
- Central exhaust resonator delete for a subtle but satisfying tone
It sits on a full set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres and comes with a long MOT, part service history (11 stamps in the book), and 2 keys.
Only ever run on Shell V Power 99 in my ownership.
Good Bits:
- It's a Golf GTI.
- Mechanically sorted with the expensive jobs done
- Great usable performance and still practical
- Michelin PS5 tyres all round
- Loads of paperwork detailing work undertaken
Bad Bits:
- Front and rear bumpers have lacquer peel - it was like this when I bought it; I just never got round to fixing it.
- Headliner has started sagging, like every other Mk6 eventually does.
- The dashboard occasionally flashes a brake light warning. This is due to a few LEDs out in the third brake light (spoiler). It passed its most recent MOT, but was flagged the year before.
A well-loved car that's been a joy to own, ready for the next person to enjoy.
