Description

This is a great example of a truly exceptional car. One of only about 160 left of the original 263 in this country. 350 bhp in a car just slightly bigger than a skateboard! 0 - 60 in 5 seconds. Limited to 155mph. Supercar performance at a fraction of the cost. How can this not become a modern classic? Cared for properly, this is an investment that will bring miles of smiles and increase in value. I have just returned from taking it on a road trip across the Yorkshire Moors and Dales, including the Buttertubs Pass with the SLK Owners Club, followed by a solo trip cross country to the Lake District, where we traversed the Wrynose and Hardnott Passes. The car performed impeccably. The engine is as sweet as a nut and the gearbox as smooth as slk. Some of the climbs, twists and turns were so steep and tight, they would challenge any car, but it coped admirably. So if I were reading this, I'd want to know why I was selling such a great car. It's complicated, sorry. I'm 71, and in remission from Lymphoma (blood cancer) I'm told it'll come back but there is no way of knowing when. It'll be treatable again but that's a journey in itself. So I've decided I'll have and do whatever I want in the meantime as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else and I can afford it. So I bought a Triumph Stag. It's a beautiful car and undeniably a true classic already, but boy, was I underwhelmed with the performance! It was fast for its time but not this time. So I wanted something fast, so I bought the SLK. The Stag will be in the Autotrader soon. As you've probably guessed, I'm a lifelong petrol head and I want my next car to be something very special. I want 4 seats, a roof I can raise or lower at up to 30mph, a fabulous sound system with at least a dozen speakers, a 360 degree camera, with parking sensors front and rear and probably, adaptive cruise control. So, back to the SLK. It has a history folder right back to the original sales invoice. The previous owner had it for 14 years and looked after it very well. The mot is due on 9th September, so it'll be sold with a new one. I haven't had it renewed because if it doesn't sell by 9th August, I shall do it then and get 13 months test. I've had a pre mot done and it needs 2 rear brake back plates, which I've bought already. I've had 4 new tyres fitted and a new K40 relay. I've fitted the chrome rollover bars and perspex windbreaker. The originals come with the car.
