Description
WARNING: this car has an issue. There is an oscillating whirring noise come from the back end. Assumed to be the diff. The diff oil has been changed, and quietened it a little, but it's still there. I'd bought a used diff to replace it, but the diff I got has been split on the seal. I am moving on from this car. It has been a pleasure to drive, and I've loved owning it. It's had new rocker covers fitted both sides in 2021 due to the traditional JLR cracking and restricted performance mode. New turbo hoses due to splitting and restricted performance mode. A reconditioned intercooler due to air leaking and restricted performance mode. Thermostat has been replaced. EGRs cleaned. New cambelt fitted at 113k. The flexible cable to the boot has been replaced with a genuine spare. It's generally a nice car, but it is a 2011 (but 2012 x250 model) car with usual paint chips, internal scuffs, the famous Jaguar sticky rubber buttons in some places. The Bowers Wilkins sound system is mint and I'll really miss it. It's the 3 litre twin turbo and the engine performs lovely. I wouldn't recommend a Jaguar XF to anyone not planning to do their own maintenance. They can be really expensive to maintain. Saying that, it has been serviced at MGA independent Jaguar. This has been extended in later years as yearly mileage has reduced. Fluids have been changed with service and brake fluid changed. It has 4 Goodyears on it in good condition and tread. It wants the brakes doing soon. There is a private plate on it that can stay with the vehicle. Also, I'll leave the 75w140 in the boot if you are planning on doing the diff change.
Video available that captures the kind of noise coming from the backend.
