Description

Extremely reluctant sale of Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Replica by Challenger - 1973 XJ6 based with 4.2 litre XK engine These are excellent replicas, produced with Jaguar's permission. Purchased for 26k as a non-runner three years ago and spent two years working on it with receipts for 11k with extensive rebuild including: Full front suspension re-build including new bushes, brake lines, refurbished calipers. Full IRS rebuild with conversion to refurbished limited-slip 2.88 diff making the car great on motorways but still has good acceleration All rubber hoses and seals replaced Engine service with new battery, alternator, distributor, coil, belts, polished valve covers, carbs rebuilt, manual choke conversion Heater controls added to dash (temperature and airflow) Fuel tank refurbished, fuel pump replaced and fuel lines replaced Electrical update with relays for horn, lights, ignition, indicators, hazards Check straps on doors and gas struts on boot and bonnet Discreet LED rear fog light fitted Boot fully trimmed Wheel changing kit prepared Speedometer converted to 160 mph, rev-counter refurbished and other dash gauges working as they should Converted to round gear knob and first gear inhibitor to allow confident downshift to second without accidental downshift to first at speed Door cards already made to professional standard and fitted (black leather and with real E-type chrome trims) Purchase high quality tailored cover (like new) Voluntary MOT passed Jaguar Solent blue metallic paint Included in the sale will be: a black auto leather hide (full hide except the part used for the door cards) a set of real e type bucket seats Roll of black auto-carpet Assorted spares including two HS8 carbs A few highlights: Regularly features in the Challenger club magazine and includes many enhancements not seen on other Challengers Registered as a Challenger E-type historic vehicle Documented history file including receipts for 12k for the rebuild during the last three years Tax and MOT exempt No rust, no smoke It is now a really reliable car you could take anywhere. In the last year, I have hardly touched it, just used it. The only bad thing - The engine has one missing head stud which was like this in the donor car when the car was built in the early 90s. Apart from the stud, this is mechanically way better than most Challengers you will find for sale. Hard to distinguish from the real thing and much more practical. Owners club with fantastic technical support.
