Description

Summary An excellent example of the rarer and more powerful Porsche 944s in guards red. This car was restored by the previous owner (Villiers Classics) and I have spared no expense in continuing this restoration work (see below), ensuring that every common area of fault has been addressed. The car runs and drives brilliantly, and has never let me down. It has been driven consistently over the last four years (average 2000 miles a year), and has been dry stored over the winters. I am having to sell it due to my new house not having parking. The car is a Cat - C due to an accident in 2005, when Porsche 944 values were exceptionally low (less than 2,000). However, there are no lasting mechanical or structural issues from the incident, and the car has been inspected by 3 separate garages. The car has a full service history over the last five years, and an almost full service history since 1987. The Porsche 944 S represents a significant upgrade over the standard 944, featuring a high-revving 2.5L 16-valve DOHC engine producing 190 bhp a notable increase from the base model's 150 bhp. This twin-cam setup delivers sharper throttle response and improved performance, with 0-60 mph achieved in around 6.5 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than the standard car. Good parts -New cambelt and cambelt tensioner (2025) -New water pump (2025) -MOT in January 2025 (new engine mount, battery, wheel alignment and balancing) -All new disc brakes (2023) -New clutch (2021) -Stainless Steel Dansk Exhaust: a 900 upgrade that makes the engine sound great -New gear linkage (2022) -Wheel rims refurbished (2023) -New sound system - Alpine SXE Coaxial speakers (2022) -New Continental Radio - Bluetooth enabled including calls (2022) -Restored and working digital clock! (2022) -New locking arms in both doors (a common fault) -Four new continental tires - ContiEcoContact 6 (2021) -Power steering rack restoration (2022) -New oil and fuel filter, and engine oil relief valve replaced (2022) -2 years from becoming a classic (Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt) Bad parts -Cracks in dashboard (see photos) -Oil gauge is giving a faulty reading (needle moves erratically) despite no oil issues -Slight tear in passenger seat (see photos) -The paint condition is not pristine and is reflective of its age -The electric wing mirrors don't work, although these can be adjusted manually. -A little rust on sills (surface level only)
