Description

1988 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 3.2 SUPER SPORT TARGA A very well-presented car with an air-cooled 3.2-litre flat-six, delivering 228bhp through a Getrag G50 five-speed manual. The odometer displays 127,500 miles from new. It is understood that it formed part of a private collection before being recommissioned by Porsche specialist Renntech. It has been subtly upgraded with a Dansk sports exhaust and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. It is believed to be on of only 15 UK Super Sport Targas and possibly the only one in this colour. The Super Sport Targa features 'Turbo-look' body styling, including the flagship model's wide body, spoilers, suspension, four-piston fixed callipers, 16-inch forged Fuchs alloy wheels, and low-profile tyres. This example is finished in Velvet Red metallic with a black rollover hoop, over a Linen leather-trimmed cabin with dark brown contrast piping. It rides on a correct set of 16-inch black Fuchs alloy wheels with polished lips, which are shod in Michelin tyres. The specification includes electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a rear wiper, and a Blaupunkt radio-cassette player connected to Mac Audio door and parcel shelf speakers. Accompanying the car is the original owner's book pack, a history file containing a raft of maintenance invoices, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, historic tax discs, and a toolkit. There is no known bodywork damage and the Velvet Red metallic paintwork is in excellent condition and displays a deep shine. There are a few minor paint blemishes, chips on the door handles and a few minor scratches are reported on the Targa roof trims, which is to be expected given the car's age and mileage. No major flaws are visible on the alloy wheels, and 7mm of tread remains across all four tyres. Moving inside, the cabin presents well, and the upholstery and trim items are believed to be original. There is some age-related cracking on the front seats and some wear on the seat bolsters, piping, and centre console. The carpets have been replaced and new footwell mats have been added. No mechanical or electrical faults are evident, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard. The car's last MOT test was conducted in March 2025 at 127000 miles and an oil service was carried out by a specialist at 127,400. A main service was conducted by dealer John Holland at 125,596 miles. Previous service history is supplied with the vehicle, which includes a service book with 25 stamps.
