In 1987, 38 years ago my wife and I were camping in Agay on the Cote D'Azure when I promised her that one day we'd by a convertible and tour the South of France. Having decided this would be the year I did loads of research on various convertibles and decided this ticked all of our boxes, fast, comfortable, economical, proper 4 seater, safe (being 4x4), and the added luxuries of the neck scarf and air cap!
We've just returned from a 3000 mile trip down the entire West coast of France, Carcassonne, Corniche, Cote D'azur, Route de Napoleon, Switzerland and back, taking just over a month.
It was amazing, great fun, the car was fantastic, and I've finally kept my promise!
I'd love to keep the car, but have realised realistically I need more storage space so aim to go back to an A6 Avant.
The car is a 3 litre V6 diesel that produces around 250 BHP
It's a 9 speed automatic that is silky smooth, but has 'flappy paddles' for manual control
It's the Premium version, has keyless entry/go, neck scarf (warm air) and an air cap (deflects wind (and rain we found out)) over the entire length of the car.
It has 20" AMG Alloy wheels
It has loads of other gizmos that would take an age to describe.
It was absolutely fine with the roof down even up to motorway speeds, and incredibly quiet with the acoustic roof up.
The car is in exceptional condition inside and out, and we received a lot of admiring glances and comments whilst we were away.
Please note.
I purchased the car earlier this year from a couple who had bought it as a Category N (non structural) as the car had previously had its seats and sos tracker stolen. (The car has not had any bodywork damage). The seller was an engineer who had sourced replacement seats and SOS device, and had them installed. (I have photographic evidence ) Everything works as it should, and prior to our trip I had a Mercedes 'health check' carried out.
I'm sure the first serious purchaser to see and drive the car will buy it, and have as much fun in it as we have.
Thanks for looking.
Have a great summer!
