2015 BMW 420d.
Some minor marks, to be expected for age. Alloy wheels scuffed from general kerbing.
Timing chain went in 2020, had a complete engine rebuild. Engine has only done 32,000 miles since rebuild. See below for work carried out :
Investigate possible timing chain failure, various checks confirmed failure.
Cylinder leakage test completed - failed.
Cylinder head removed and sent to specialist.
Transmission removed - clutch and flywheel discarded.
Broken timing chain assemblie removed. Damaged and worn components replaced.
1. Cylinder head repair, incl. courier and gasket set (replace x16 valves)
2. x16 broken rocker arms
3. Timing chain assemblies, incl. chains, guides, bolts and tensioners (genuine BMW parts)
4. Head hasket and bolt set (genuine BMW parts)
5. Various gaskets and seals (genuine BMW parts)
6. Leaking water pump replaced
7. Fly wheel
8. X3 piece clutch
9. Oil
10. Oil filter
11. Coolant
During engine strip, an engine de-carbon removal was also completed.
[Garage said - "it's now running like a new car !!!"]
Subsequent oil change after a further 500 miles.
In 2024, soft close mechanisim on boot stopped working, causing convertible roof to no longer work.
Entire boot lock mechanism replaced (1,000.00 worth of work)
