Description

1986 LAND ROVER 90 SOFT TOP - KEY FACTS benefitting from an extensive restoration and upgrade programme. Finished in matalic Tonga Green with Tan Connolly leather. Powered by a replacement 2.5-litre 300Tdi diesel inline-four, sending power to all four wheels via an Ashcroft rebuilt LT77 five-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays c900 miles which was replaced with a new unit along with the other dashboard instrumentation when the interior was re-trimmed. The original comes with the car. The odometer was recently replaced to convert from kilometres to miles, and that it has all been confirmed by the DVLA. This example was originally a Ministry of Defence vehicle with the registration 77-KF-33. It was demobbed in 1999, when it was issued the number plate D741 ENV. It has since received a full body-off restoration to military specification by the previous owner, including chassis repainting, and fitment of a galvanised bulkhead. The gearbox has been rebuilt as has the transfer case and axles, new suspension and bushings, adding the new tan Connolly leather interior. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES - resprayed in the distinguished hue of Tonga Green, offset by a heritage front grille and light package, with a sand-coloured Exmoor Trim soft-top roof. Inside, the cabin now features tan Connolly leather upholstery, with square-quilted inserts on the seats and centre armrest, and a leather-covered dashboard. It rides on a set of 16-inch black steel 'Wolf' wheels, shod in BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tyres. The factory specification includes a high and low-range gearbox, manually operated sliding windows, a selection of dials, and heater and ventilation controls. Further upgrades include a wood-rimmed Momo Indy steering wheel, Wipac headlights, an integrated Marshall music system with Bluetooth connectivity, a Safety Devices roll cage, a new Exmoor Trim hood, and heated front seats. Mechanically, the original 200Tdi engine has been replaced with a 300Tdi unit, the original drum brakes have been replaced with discs, uprated Fox suspension has been fitted, and the power steering pump and cabin heater have been upgraded. The intercooler, radiator and hoses have also been upgraded. JFT Motorsport (c2018) overhauled the engined including auxiliary items and belts, and a check of the valve gaps. In 2023 and 2024 Gigglepin replaced most of the engine and gearbox gaskets, timing belts and carried out the service. Extensive invoices and 12 months MOT (June 2015).
