Description

Highly original XJS Convertible Four previous owners Partial Service History The time has come to sell my lovely XJS. It's a facelift model with colour-coded bumpers, in 2+2 Convertible form with the 4.0-litre straight-six engine. The XJS is finished in metallic red with an oatmeal leather interior. It spent the first 5 years of its life in Singapore, being serviced regularly before being imported to the UK in May 1999 with 34,000 miles on the clock. It was serviced again in November 1999 at 41,000 miles. I have receipts for work done in 2002/3 then a gap in the service history until 2008 when it was showing 61,000 miles. The hood and headlining was replaced in 2010. It had 2 new tyres, a brake overhaul and the aircon regassed at 65,000 miles in September 2013 then two more tyres in July 2014. The MOT history shows the mileage creeping up until I bought it in January 2018 with 77,000 miles showing. I used the car regularly for the first few years, mostly wafting round the M25 with the roof down on a regular commute. When I first got it, I asked Jagutek in Ely to go over it with a fine toothcomb to check everything was in order, do a basic service and to fix a few niggles. It then needed some welding work to get through the MOT in August 2018 and had a change of coolant and a new hose in October of that year. It had a new alternator and another hose in May 2020. The gearbox warning light came on in late 2021 so it went back to Jagutek to be repaired and has a new cam cover gasket to fix a minor oil weep. While it was there I had the climate control updated and regased and had the oil pressure gauge upgraded too. The mileage had been creeping up over this time, reaching 84,300 by August 2022 when the rear window motors were changed. I changed jobs in September 2021 so was doing a lot less miles in it and it now has 84,6000 miles on the clock. The paintwork and interior does show some signs of age, as you would expect. I had originally intended to restore it but never found the time unfortunately. It passed its MOT easily with advisories for a few things which are quite natural for a car of this age. It drives fine, holding the road nicely and giving a super smooth ride. The engine is strong and responsive and the kickdown on the gearbox works fine. It would be a great buy for someone who wants to be able to drive it straight away and improve it over time.
