If you want a piece of British motoring heritage please call Simon directly on 07836 259586. This Rover Mini is a historically pertinent modern classic and is said to be one of three RSP ‘prototypes’ that were produced to re-launch the Mini Cooper. These cars were equipped with all the cosmetic RSP additions, including white roof, sunroof, RSP alloy wheels, ‘Cooper’ seat tags and steering wheel boss, bonnet stripes and twin side pinstripes with ‘Mini Cooper’ logos, along with several other unique items. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1,275cc ‘A-Series’ inline-four, driving the front wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car was built in 1989, and first registered September 1990 with the DVLA in by the ‘Rover Group’. Its last owner bought the Cooper RSP (Rover Special Production) in September 2005 and has owned it for 20 years. There is a large history file available to view and can be emailed on request. The odometer shows just 49364 miles EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES The Mini Cooper RSP was unveiled in 1990 to reintroduce the sporting Cooper variant to the Mini range and was the brainchild of John Cooper. Three Mini 30s were taken from the production line in 1989 and specified as prototype Mini Cooper RSPs by the Rover Special Products group. There was one red, one black, and this British Racing Green example. The cabin is trimmed in half black leather, punctuated by red piping and carpets, and it has the correct ‘Cooper’ logos. It rides on a set of 12-inch Minilite RSP alloy wheels, shod with Yokohama tyres which are not original equipment due to age deterioration. Equipment includes a heated rear window and an original Philips radio-cassette player supplied with the security code. Twin carburettors and a three-branch exhaust have been fitted retrospectively; however the original parts have been retained and accompany the car.
