This is a well sorted and solid 88" Series One with the 2.0 petrol engine, also fitted with overdrive for added drivability in modern traffic. If you are looking for a good value, usable example that you can just get in and enjoy, this is well worth a look. It has had much recent mechanical and structural work but retains its very pleasing patinated bodywork, with just the right amount of wear in my opinion, and certainly not battered like some. It drives very nicely indeed, starting easily and running smoothly. The overdrive means it cruises along happily at slightly higher speeds without the revs going too high. Recent work includes fitment of a new Exmoor Trim canvas roof, replacement propshaft, oil and filter change, head gasket replacement, replacement timing chain tensioner and new sliding windows and runners for the doors. There is a large history file with lots of invoices and photographs of previous restoration work. It appears that it was restored around 2015 by a previous owner, with lots of photos of the car being stripped down and the chassis and bulkhead being repaired, treated and painted before being rebuilt. It was then sold in 2016 to become part of a small collection of classic Land Rovers. It received more work during this time, including a new galvanised bulkhead with the correct opening air vents which had been omitted when previously restored. The body cappings were also re-galvanised. It was used very sparingly for several years and has just been gone through with the work mentioned above to prepare it for more regular use.
