Description

Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185 Year of Manufacture: 1989 First UK Registration: May 2000 Engine: 1998cc Turbocharged Transmission: Permanent four-wheel drive Mileage: Unknown from past MOT history (Speedo now reads 142,000 + as we have just had to change it) Former Keepers: 5 MOT: 12 months Private Plate: Included This is a very solid and fundamentally sound example of the iconic Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185. While not immaculate, it offers a great base for further restoration and improvement or simply to enjoy as-is. I was introduced to this car by Warner Lewis of Lewis Rally Sport , a well-respected specialist in historic rally car preparation, particularly Toyotas. A previous client of Warner's had owned the car for a number of years and asked him to rebuild the engine to Group A rally spec as per the Toyota works cars of the early 1990s. The result is an engine built to approximately 300BHP, and it has covered just 1,000 miles since the rebuild. Warner recommended the vehicle to me, describing it as "straight and sound" a great platform to enjoy and further improve. Key Details: The car is believed never to have been raced or rallied. No signs of accident damage. Fully resprayed in original Toyota white in my ownership. Previously grey (factory), then purple, then black. Fitted with 18" Compomotive alloy wheels and 215/45 ZR18 tyres just 500 miles covered. Battery relocated to the boot for balance and engine bay space. Air conditioning unit removed for the same reason. Bonnet and front nose are non-standard Carlos Sainz style but I have retained the original bonnet (currently painted black). Bespoke exhaust manifold and full exhaust system fitted. Interior is standard and original. Partial service history. Drives quietly and smoothly with no unwanted knocks, rattles, or mechanical issues. 6,652.05 spent in the past 12 months receipts available. A note is available detailing the work carried out by Lewis Rally Sport prior to my ownership. This is a car that deserves a good home. I had hoped to continue the restoration, particularly of the interior, but at 70+ my wife and I find it a little impractical particularly as our usual car is a Land Rover Discovery, and she's not fond of being this low to the ground! I also already have another "toy" which I'll be keeping. If you're looking for a GT-Four that has had significant mechanical work done by specialists, and which now offers a strong platform for light res
