Description

For sale is my Feb 1985 Saab 900 Turbo, flat front with the full fat 175 bhp engine , in Alabaster yellow, with the 5 speed manual gearbox. This Saab is in really lovely, quite immaculate original condition, and has only covered 33,500 miles, which must make it one of the lowest mileage 900 turbos in existence? The car is the earlier and rarer 'flat front' model, and something I didn't know when I bought it, but the 900 Turbo of 1985 only, was fitted with high lift camshafts. This feature allows for eye watering mid range acceleration, too much for many customers and as such Saab reverted to the previous specification for later cars. This information came from a former Saab Master technician . The 900 has the factory sunroof, Aero wheels and heated seats, and of course the Turbo gauge which was only fitted to these top of the range cars . The story behind the car is that it was originally bought by a man for his wife who found it too powerful and it was then garaged and used minimally. After the owner died, the car entered an auction where it was bought by a classic car dealer who passed it on to the man I bought it from. The term 'time warp ' is often over used, but in the context of this car is truly applicable. The car is completely original and unmodified , the paintwork unmarked! The interior is practically as new! It drives as well as it looks. The Saab has not long had its last legally required MOT, because as from 1st Aoril next year it will be a Historic ' vehicle, and as such MOT, ULEZ, and VEL exempt. About 100 pounds for some insurance and that's it! When I bought the car I took it to my Saab specialists, Abbott Racing in Essex. They went right through it and changed all the fluids and filters etc. Nothing further was required. I have used the car only sporadically since. A full bookmark is present and both keys The service history has been mislaid apart from the receipts from Abbott. However it is obvious from the condition of the car and the perfect way it drives, that it it would have been serviced in its life. A car does not remain in this condition unless it has been cherished. So there we are, an outstanding example of a now iconic car, and quire possibly the best around? I realise that Saab 900's are around for half the price I am asking but they all have 100k plus miles on them with remedial work required, usually bodywork, which is always very expensive. My Saab is get in and drive away , nothing to be done!
