Description

This must be one of the most distinctive and well-sorted examples on the market today, blending an immaculate restoration with a rare and powerful specification. Restored by Colne Classics around 20 years ago, it remains in pristine condition and has even been celebrated in the July issue of Classic Car magazine where it was boldly compared with the much more valuable Aston Martin DB5. Finished in crisp Olde English white and sitting on 15-inch MGC wheels, this MGB has a purposeful stance and presence. Uprated camber and caster trunnions, rack-and-pinion steering, an overdrive gearbox, and a limited-slip differential all contribute to sharper handling and improved drivability. A neat touch is the dash-mounted overdrive switch, placed to the right of the steering wheel - a wonderfully retro feature that adds a genuine cool factor to every drive. Under the bonnet lies the car's most extraordinary feature: an Oselli 1950cc fast-road Stage 2 engine producing around 160bhp. The specification includes a lightened flywheel and a very rare crossflow cylinder head, allowing the fitment of twin Weber 40 carburettors. With a Kent cam and carefully matched components, the result is a strong, free-revving unit delivering around 160bhp. With a well-documented history, this MGB has clearly been cherished throughout its life. The restoration remains superb, with tight panel fit and gleaming brightwork. Here is a rare chance to acquire a magazine-featured MGB that combines period looks with discreet but significant performance upgrades equally at home on a show field or being driven hard on the open road.
