Description

This is a well-maintained Mercedes-Benz A-Class A180 CDI Special Edition, offering great practicality, excellent fuel economy, and the premium touches of the Special Edition trim. Highlights: - Reliable 2.0L diesel engine runinig perfectly - Smooth CVT automatic transmission [TCM issue] - 5-door hatchback - ideal for families or commuters - Special Edition features - upgraded trim, alloy wheels, air con, multifunction steering wheel, and more - Clean interior and solid bodywork for its age - Starts and runs well - 2-Keys - Service History - All 4 tyres in very good condition (UNIROYAL RS5) Please Read: Honest Description of the Issue The car is generally reliable and drives well, but there is an intermittent issue affecting the transmission: Occasionally, especially when the engine hasn't fully warmed up, it enters limp mode with a "Transmission Faulty - Visit Workshop" message. Switching the car off and restarting clears the issue, and it then drives normally without any issues untill next cold start. When driven more gently until warmed up, the issue is much less likely to occur. Once warmed up, the car is reliable for long-distance driving. Fault codes point to intermittent signal loss from the CVT RPM sensors: - 0793 - Y3/9B4 CVT Secondary RPM Sensor Not Available - 0722 - Y3/9B5 CVT Output RPM Sensor Not Available Clearing the fault codes has no effect on the issue - they return whenever the car re-enters limp mode. This suggests a TCM (Transmission Control Module)-related issue or sensor connection fault, but the car is otherwise mechanically sound and could be a straightforward fix for someone familiar with CVT systems. Summary A clean and well-maintained example of a 2006 A-Class with a known intermittent transmission fault, priced accordingly. Ideal for a mechanic, enthusiast, or someone who doesn't mind occasional resets. Viewing and test welcome. Available for phone calls after 6:30 p.m.
