TENSION FAILSAFE SPRING GONE TO SAVE THE WIDER CLUTCH!! ONE WEEK IDLE!!
DEFINITELY CLUTCH (NOT MASTER/SLAVE CYLINDER) - CONFIRMED BY MECHANIC FRIDAY, 29 AUGUST.
This has been a very reliable car for c3yrs, in daily use until late August by 85yr old mum. Sentimental value demands she (car not mum) gets a last chance reprieve, before scrapping.
It is what it is - a high mileage 22yr old E60, that's run well for 22yrs and deserves a chance to run for a few more years or 40k more mls in the hands of somone who doesn't mind a fiddly day's labour & 200(disc)-500(set) on parts!
Quoted 700(disc) - 1100(set incl fork & DMFW) parts and labour - car's just not worth the outlay and mum needs something smaller now!
Lots of non-main dealer mobile service history up to 2021/22. Serviced at home since 21/22 (oil, filters, etc).
Historically reliable old but loved family car - two lady owners from new - clean MOT (19/03/26) - black leather seats in excellent condition - Straight six naturally aspirated M54 emgine block - minor oil pan weep (typical of the M54 block) - x2 new Triangle XL tyres (cJune25) - x4 5-spoke spider alloys in good condition - body work age related marks but Ok - few bumper corner scuffs and boot lid dented (was like that when bought c2022). Rear window seal could do with replacement but water tight - door seals fine - window door seals fine but not as new - paint weathering to black matt window pillars in small parts - bkack matt wing mirror paint weathered - offside headlamp misting but roadworthy.
Simply put, if you want the car, if you can tow/flatbed it away and are ok with all the above and photos, I'd rather it got back on the road than was crushed!
So make me an offer! So long as its not less than scrap, I'll be open to it so long as you can keep her going a bit longer!
