Description
It is a 3-in-1 van, a four-person camper, an 8 person MPV, and a cargo van with loads of space. This makes the Bongo useful for all kinds of trips, from camping, to big shops, to tip trips, to days out with friends and family. The van is in good condition, and solid mechanically. It has been regularly maintained by ADS Automotive Bristol.
The van is in the original Mk. 1 layout, with AFT pop-top and the split rear seat. It is getting increasingly rare to find the true Mk. 1s in good condition like ours.
Reg: M239ELD. 2.5L diesel. MOT to February 2026. 170k miles, and well maintained. Perfect for summer trips and adventures! The Bongo always starts first time, and drives well.
We have invested in several new bits for it over the time we have had it. I have put the general features and additional work we've had done below:
General features
- 3-in-1 layout: 8 belted seats for passengers, lay flat seats for camping, and fold away seats for cargo
- Automatic transmission
- Auto Free Top - Electric pop top compartment that can sleep an additional two campers, meaning the van can comfortably sleep four total
- Black paint job with custom mirrored rear privacy windows
- Bull bars, side runners, and mirrored wing mirror covers
- Complete interior curtains including cab and rear (to original Bongo design)
- Four-person table and chair arrangement
- Rear electrical hookup for Bongo kitchen if you do want to convert it
Work and additions
- Leisure battery system to run electrics off a separate battery when camping
- Coolant alarm system
- Bluetooth stereo for connecting to smartphones, with handsfree system for calls. Allows for Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, etc. whilst driving, with a dedicated holder for your phone
- New radiator and water system refurbish, including new pipework
- New pop top roof (second hand) and brand-new roof motors
- Up to date with welding work for MOT requirements
The Bongo is a great, reliable drive. It is solid mechanically, and we have kept it well. It has been maintained by ADS Bristol which is an excellent Bongo specialist garage. We have the full service history over our ownership.
We have the van checked several times a year, and it is in good structural shape. There is some cosmetic corrosion in the normal places you find it on Bongos - wheel arches, door frames, etc. The price reflects this. It's a lovely looking van, and gets lots of compliments!
