Description
The Porsche 924 was originally launched in 1976, however not in Right Hand Drive (RHD) until March 1977, making this particular car one of the very early RHD cars off the production line being registered in July 1977. This car was found in 2020 in North Wales and recommissioned by a Porsche enthusiast and Parr Porsche Specialists in Surrey after estimated 19 years off the road and "thankfully" being stored in a dry garage. The car came with a window tax disc showing 30th September 2001 which would have been when it was last on the road. All the usual recommissioning work has been done including new plugs, leads, distributor points, recommissioned warm up regulator (WUR), filters (air, oil, fuel), brake discs & pads, rear drums, clutch, clutch bearing, wheel bearings, cam belt, fan belt, and engine and transmission oil and coolant replaced.
Originally blue and has been changed to red (and yellow) at some point in its life. The original numberplate (confirmed by DVLA) was a cherished plate and was swapped to later registration plate in 1981.
This model is very unique and rare, with a of number clear differences compared to the more common later 1980's 924 Porsche's. This year and model have the following distinguishing features:
-Chrome window trim and door handles
-Single smaller chrome wing mirror
-Fuel cap has no flap cover
-Metal boot badges (these were later were changed to stickers) extremely rare to be still with the car. Interestingly Porsche reinstated the metal badges for the 944 range which shares many of the same parts as the 924 and 924s.
-Removable sill sections for the rear torque tube.
-4 Speed Gear Box
-No rear boor spoiler
-Manual wind up windows
-Rubber gear shift gaiter.
All present on the car. You just cannot find these parts anymore for love nor money.
All of the 924 range have become a rare sight on the roads and this early model is extremely rare and therefore an excellent investment with the opportunity to take to the next level and add further value to the car.
Points to highlight
-Pop up light mechanism is not operating. Have been set in the upright position to make road legal. The electrics are working (headlights, rear lights, indicators etc. it's just the mechanism to pop the lights up and down.
-Solid drivable car, to take to the next level.
- Good oil pressure
- Unknown mileage (Unverified)
-Registered Historic Vehicle so 0 road tax, no MOT required, no ULEZ charges
-V5 Present
-All receipts for recent work.
