Description
I purchased this car from previous owner in Mar 25, who held for 16 years. Having owned a couple of non-turbo MR2s in the past, this was the right car to own in the rarer Toyota dark emerald green (code 6M1). The intention was to buy and hold as these motors bring a lot of joy and nostalgia, however I now require a second car/van with more seats or space. Main details;
- Toyota MR2 Mk2 2.0 GT-i 16V petrol
- P595 OVV REV 4
- 2 Seater hard top sunroof
- Registered 28 Apr 1997, 4 previous owners
- with lots of MOT history
- 1 year MOT carried out 06 Aug 25
- Service history with lots of receipts (Major carried out 13 Apr 25)
- 2 keys
- 16" 5 spoke alloys
- MR2 Manual, V5 & new replacement service booklet
- Short shift manual gearbox with new g-box oil service
Spent 1.5k (with receipts) and 50+ hours to bring the car up to standard that sailed through the MOT with very few minor advisories. It also had a full rust survey and repairs carried out 13 Apr 25 making it water tight and undersealed for future rust prevention. Work carried out included;
- Small weld repairs to inner rear arches and underside of boot
- All arches and underneath fully undersealed
- Inner boot lining sealed and re-sprayed
- New exhaust heatshield
- 2 new front tyres (Toyo Proxes all round)
- Tracking re-aligned
- New number plates
- Upgraded front bulbs
- New fuel filter inlet pipe
- Brake calipers painted black
- Driver Seat small stitch repair with new seat covers
- New fuel gauge sender unit
- Frunk rust free with clean up and re-spray
- Major service (Gbox & Eng Oil/filters, Air/Fuel filters & Spark plugs)
- Wheel arches, sills, boot and frunk are solid and rust free.
Some bad points (see photos) that I have been unable to address so far;
- Dent to rear passenger side quarter panel
- Slight rust bubbling to windscreen frame
- Front left side light small crack (Got replacements for new owner)
- Steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake leather aged and faded
- Age related marks and scuffs
- Very minor dent next to engine cover
- Aerial does not pop up (radio still tuned and got new aerial unit to fit)
The car now only requires slight bodywork and cosmetic attention. The car is mechanically sound, starts first time and drives great with excellent handling and braking qualities. A future classic that still turns the heads.
