Morris Ten Four Series II 1936
XXG 710 (Not the original registration number).((NV6907)).
First Registered on 27-03-1936.
The Morris 10, Series 2, 4 Door Saloon was made between 1935 and 1938.
This one from 1936 is a lovely example with lots of potential to make an investment from.
We bought it this year to dress our village High Street for our annual D-Day Revival event which celebrates the planning of the D-Day Landings.
This car runs. It starts, everything work. It stops and turns and performs as you would expect an historic car to behave. She is a treasure.
However, I do not deserve to own her, as the next owner could restore her back to her true glory a project beyond my age and experience.
We bought her to take part in a cavalcade of similar aged vehicles and she performed brilliantly.
This is a genuine old lady that deserves to have a face lift to keep her on the road for the next 50 years. Her body and major bits are in great condition but she would benefit from some dedicated TLC to keep her up to the standard that she deserves. Unfortunately, I am not the person to invest the time and effort needed.
The Good Work Undertaken
This car starts first time (a new battery was fitted last year).
She runs as you would want her to, all gears work and the clutch operates as it should.
The brakes stop the car but slower than a modern car.
She turns corners and her flag indicators work as designed (a bit sluggish on the o/s to return).
She underwent a major overhaul and recommissioning work in 2024 by John Fortune and Malcolm Brown which included:-
New battery fitted and a fabricated securing clamp arrangement.
Cleaned and set contact braker points and new spark plugs
Fan belt checked and dynamo brushes examined.
SU Fuel pump rebuilt.
Points cleaned
