Description

A very reliable Mercedes Benz which has never let us down. Very refined, steady and quiet over bumps unlike many other old and new cars that would be all over the place on rough roads. No clunks and rattles. Everything about this Mercedes is rock solid. It has only covered 125,898 miles since new which means a very low average annual mileage of just under 6,500 miles. We always got all work that needed to be done to it on time. More recently new link rod O/S/F which cost GBP 43.94 supply and fitted. New battery fitted in 2024 and N/S/F spring both costing around GBP 200. We also got the entire underside examined and wanted to do all works coming up on MOT advisories but were advised to get them done as and when needed. It's been two years and we've not had the need to do anything. It is due a B service and if we were to keep the car in the lovely condition it is in, we would get the automatic gearbox serviced just to feel completely satisfied. Having said that, it in no way feels as though it needs it but this is just pushing for perfection. Speaking of, the gear shifting on this Mercedes Benz can be set up as both Auto and Manual for that proper Sport Mode feel if you want it. Otherwise, I almost always drive it in Auto Comfort Mode which gives a much better fuel economy. I think I've highlighted all exterior body paint imperfections in the pictures including scratches from previous ownership (a family known to us) but there's nothing a good buff or polish won't get rid of. I've got the Meguir's kit for it but never got around it. Plus you can't see them unless you're looking for them. The MOT runs out in February 2026 and as we've bought a newer Mercedes Benz we won't be renewing it. Insurance category isn't as bad as many would think. I'm paying GBP 35 a month and the road tax comes to around GBP 30 a month. This is a lot of car and a lot of comfort for the money. The thing I like best about this car is that it feels planted on the road even in high windy situations and stormy wet weather conditions unlike the many modern saloons and SUVs which tend to sway in high winds making driving quite stressful. Especially when driving up to Scotland or around the Stalybridge area when going towards Manchester way (Airport runs!). For those who don't know might find it hard to believe but this old Mercedes Benz feels much safer and stress free compared to a brand new Range Rover Evoque in high speed high wind and wet situations and I've had that for two years.
