Description

This beloved Golf Mk4 has been in the family since it was originally purchased by my father in 2003. 3 total owners including myself, and the car has been cared for by all. Service and modification history is extensive so I can't guarantee its complete since the original manufacturer's booklet is filled to the brim, with recent services being recorded in separate documents. That said - its always been serviced by local VW specialists that know the car. I've personally driven the car since 2018 and the car was always cared for by WCC Wirral Car Care in Neston, Cheshire. The car was resprayed back to a factory-standard finish in 2017, but has picked up a few marks and stone chips since then. It was also reupholstered with blue tartan GTD-style seats. Recently had a new sub frame fitted. H&R Comfort Suspension kit was also fitted, along with Japan Racing alloy wheels since the originals corroded so much they continued leaking air even after powder coating. Recently had a new oil sump fitted within the last 2 years. Known issues include signs of use (stone chips with some minor dents etc, all pictured) with some early rust towards the bottom of the body work. There are two warning lights - most likely relating to the turbo as there are inconsistent power/acceleration issues. WCC noted that the clutch was starting to slip last year. Brake light electronics also need looking at, as they will spontaneously/intermittently start and stop working whilst driving. A cassette for the soundtrack to Top Gun (1986) is also stuck in the cassette player (one previous owner was a Royal Navy Harrier pilot). MOT due October 2025. Very sad to see the car go. If all issues were fixed the car would be a shining example of a 2003 VW Golf. Aside from the power issues, the car still drives great. The parts on the car (suspension kit, seats, multifunction steering wheel, alloys, sub frame, etc) are worth something to someone - but if a VW enthusiast is out there and looking for a project car - this is a great one! Still gets 55 mpg on the motorway on a long drive. I want the car (as a family heirloom) to go to someone that will benefit from the car and what it has on it - not some scrapyard. Its too special!
