Description
2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI 5 door. I'm selling because I've just bought a Mk7 Golf.
The car drives really well and has not been modified in any way. It has an MOT until May 2026 and a decent service history having been serviced every year since 2009 up to 2022 and then every 6 months since August 2022 with the last service very recently in August 2025. All servicing since 2021 has been carried out by me.
Over the course of my ownership I have done the following:
121,326 miles - replaced front coil springs, top mounts, shock absorbers, anti roll bar links and eyelet bushes as well as rear shock absorbers. All Sachs parts and totally standard (suspension is not lowered or stiffened).
122,341 new A/C compressor
125,456 new radiator and A/C condensor
128,401 New cambelt & tensioner kit, water pump, Aux belt
130,112 was the last time the spark plugs were changed and I also changed the gearbox oil
141,254 New front ball joints and anti roll bar drop links on both sides (following MOT advisory) and front and rear discs and pads
144,451 was the last time the air / pollen filter were changed
145,448 I have just changed the oil and filter again (Aug 2025)
I've also replaced the cam follower for the high pressure fuel pump a couple of times, once at about 120,000 and then again at about 140,000. The car had a new battery last year and I had a good genuine 2nd hand exhaust back box put on a few years ago to address the MOT advisory (way better than after market exhausts which never fit properly and don't last)
Please take a look at the MOT history. There was an advisory on the last MOT about the tyre tread getting low on two tyres, so please bear that in mind. Please do also look at the photos, as they form part of the description. You can see a bit of surface rust where the front wing meets the sill on both sides, the alloys are not perfect and there are some stone chips and little marks / dings on the car. It is not mint but it's a decent 17.5 year old car with almost 146,000 miles and it's still going strong.
