Description
For sale is my 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster S, 6-speed manual, finished in silver with black leather interior. I'm reluctantly parting with it to free up funds for a house move. I bought the car in July 2025 and it has been an absolute joy throughout summer. The 3.2L flat-six engine sounds superb, the gearbox is precise, and the raw, analogue feel is a refreshing change from most modern cars. With front and rear boots, it's also more practical than many rivals, easily swallowing luggage for weekend trips. Factory equipment includes half-electric seats, rare cruise control, and it has been upgraded with a Pioneer stereo with aux input for connecting your phone.
The car is mechanically sound and comes with extensive service history. In July 2025 I had it serviced, at the same time the front-to-rear brake line and exhaust manifold gasket were replaced. The early 3.2 S engines are not known for bore scoring, which gives extra peace of mind.
Recent maintenance highlights:
Aug 2024: new spark plugs
Sept 2023: new water pump
Aug 2023: new headlight switch
Nov 2022: new battery
Sept 2022: new A/C condenser, o-rings, regas
In 2014 it received a new clutch, rear main seal, and PVC rear screen. While I don't have paperwork confirming the IMS bearing, it is very likely it was replaced when the gearbox was out, and the car has only covered 25k miles since.
All the usual Boxster weak spots are in good order:
A/C blows ice cold
Central locking and both boot releases work
Roof operates smoothly with no rips or leaks
Rear spoiler functions correctly
Windows (including the drop function) work perfectly
The car has passed clean MOTs for the last two years, and a VCheck report (June 2025) confirms no accident history.
Cosmetically it's very presentable. A few stone chips, light wear on the gear knob and centre console, and the driver's seat bolster shows some age, but no rips or tears. Pirelli tyres all have strong tread (7mm measured in 2024 at 108k; mileage now 109,636).
Minor imperfections, reflected in price: a mark on the driver's door (not through clearcoat), curb rash to the OSR wheel with a chunk out of the tyre (safe, not an MOT advisory), and weak front boot struts (30 fix).
Always run on premium fuel (NO E10). Mileage may rise slightly if the weather stays nice.
This is a very well-sorted, usable, and increasingly rare analogue Porsche sports car. Priced to sell.
